Posted
SYRACUSE - In "Aunt Mary's Guide to Raising Children the Old-Fashioned Way", author Amy S. Peele reflects on her youth, being raised in the early '60s, and discovers memories both painful and funny that yield meaningful life lessons.

Peele, along with her five siblings, came from a broken, Irish Catholic, home; their father left when she was 8 and left nothing but hardship behind.

Her stories uncover a home in which her mother does everything she can to keep the family together, and the kids do everything they can to keep laughing through the difficult times. She tells stories of the yearly and well-anticipated summers at Lake Wawasee, with her Aunt Mary, and the life lessons she learned there. In this book, Peele delves into her sometimes chaotic, sometimes simple youth, and reflects on the peace of mind she experienced at Lake Wawasee every summer.

Peele will visit the Syracuse Public Library Saturday at 2 p.m. Peele will be talking about the places and people in the book, as well as signing copies of the book which can be purchased at that time. The book can also be checked out at the library.

This is a free event - refreshments and snacks provided.
