SYRACUSE – Lakes Area Players director Elaine Pearson is on the hunt to cast leading roles for the 2015–16 season of the Christmas and Easter drama productions. Tryouts are scheduled for 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Quaker Haven Camp’s activities center. “We are looking for two basses, a tenor, two altos and two sopranos plus trumpet players for our Christmas production,” Pearson said. “This year should be a fun one as we will debut a new script, ‘A Christmas Mystery at Castle Dewart,’ which will combine our festive Madrigal costumes with a mystery dinner.” In addition, actor/singers are being sought to fill the principal roles for the 2016 run of “Christ’s Passion.” “We are excited to see our returning crew try new roles and hope to also find some new talent,” Pearson said. “We plan to cast a tenor as Jesus, a baritone as Caiaphas and the non-singing role of Satan well in advance of rehearsals, to give those actors time to study the script and Scriptures. We will also be needing understudies for all major roles.” For those wanting to attend either of these productions, the performance dates are as follows: • “Christmas Mystery Madrigal,” 7 p.m., Dec. 4, 5, 11 and 12; 2 p.m. Dec. 6. Tickets are $20. • 2016 “Christ’s Passion,” 7 p.m., March 18, 19 and 25; 2 p.m. March 19, 20 and 26. – 7 PM on March 18, 19, 25. As of Aug. 13, tickets are $7 presale and $10 at the door; $10 Gold Circle and presale; and $25 package which includes Gold Circle, meal and backstage tour. Auditions, rehearsals and the events will all be held at Quaker Haven Camp, 111 EMS D16 Lane, Syracuse.
