The Kosciusko County Alcohol and Tobacco Commission Thursday approved a wine permit for the DIY business Board and Brush in downtown Warsaw.
Lisa Ulrey, owner of Board and Brush at 210 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw, said she purchased the franchise business in March and a permit to serve wine and wine slushies during the DIY wooden board projects is a requirement. The commission unanimously approved the wine-only permit.
Also Thursday, the commission approved a transfer of a beer and wine dealer permit from Polar Express to H&E Express Mart, 2518 E. Center St., Warsaw.
Several renewals also passed unanimously and included Kiyoi Inc., 404 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, for a beer, wine and liquor riverfront sales permit; Wyndham Garden, 2519 E. Center St., Warsaw, for a beer, wine and liquor permit for a hotel; Oswego Mini Mart, 2757 E. Armstrong Road, Leesburg, for a beer and wine dealer permit for a grocery store; and Winona Heritage Room, 901 Park Ave., Winona Lake, for a beer, wine and liquor permit for a catering hall.
Doug Shoemaker, owner of the Frog Tavern in Syracuse, was present during the meeting to clear up that he has paid the fine imposed on his business last year when a minor was caught using the bathroom in the bar area. Since the fine was paid and Shoemaker has since put up roping and signage to direct minors to use the restrooms on the family side of the business, he is in compliance.
