AKRON – The process of assembling the 900 kW wind turbine on the campus of Tippecanoe Valley High School and Tippecanoe Valley Middle School is set to begin Oct. 17.
The week starts with the arrival of a helper crane and the large main installation crane Oct. 17. The assembly of the main installation crane will be completed Monday and Tuesday. Oct. 19, the vertical assembly of the wind turbine components begins and continues through substantial completion Oct. 20. Once the wind turbine assembly is complete, internal installation activities will be ongoing.
The public is invited to view the assembly of the installation crane and wind turbine.
Parking and community viewing areas have been designated for viewer safety and to maintain traffic flow. Viewers will be required to park in the northwest corner of the north parking area, directly across from the concession, restroom and ticket facility that serves as the north entrance to the football field.
To reach the viewing area, the public must pass through the gate entrance to the baseball field and walk directly west.
The entrance is marked “wind turbine viewing area”. The viewing area will be roped off and bleacher seating available. For viewer safety, no one will be allowed beyond the designated area.
The community viewing area will be supervised by representatives of Performance Services Inc. Oct. 19 and 20.
Refreshments will be available during this two-day period.
