Opponents are expected to attend Wednesday's Kosciusko County Plan Commission meeting in which an asphalt plant will be proposed north of U.S. 30 near Warsaw.
Petitioners of the proposal, Ranger Materials, want to rezone 20 acres of land from agricultural to heavy industrial. The property is located north of CR 300N and about half a mile west of Ind. 15.
The same petitioner sought a similar proposal on another tract of land near Warsaw a year or so ago and was denied.
Although the land is zoned for agriculture, a gravel excavation business and a concrete business are nearby. A temporary asphalt business was operated nearby a few years ago for area road work, said plan director Dan Richard.
The property is located north of the Industrial Corridor.
According to one adjacent property owner, several nearby residents plan to attend Wednesday's 1 p.m. meeting and protest the plan.
