Arts Commission Looking for Artist

Posted
The Warsaw Public Arts Commission is looking for an artist willing to donate their talent.
Coming to Warsaw from June 3 to Sept. 29 is the “all new” Walk-n-Wander 2016.
According to a press release from the Warsaw Public Arts Commission, this four-month event is “an opportunity to stroll among life-size bronze sculptures created by renowned artist Seward Johnson. The Warsaw Public Arts Commission is charged with hosting this unique art event for the Warsaw community.”
2016 also is Indiana’s 200th birthday.  The Warsaw Public Arts Commission will participate in Indiana’s Bison-tennial Public Art Project by sponsoring a bison that will be displayed during the 2016 Walk-n-Wander exhibit, be part of the Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay, then be installed permanently on the Lake City Green Way.
An artist willing to donate his or her services for this project is needed. The bison must be completed and ready for display by May 30. Artists will be recognized in Walk-n-Wander publications, at VIP night, with a plaque for Walk-n-Wander event and on state Bison-tennial web site.
Artistic submissions should be completed by March 12. For more information and a copy of the guidelines, contact melkoher@gmail.com or phone 574-457-6085.
The mission of the Warsaw Public Arts Commission is to develop Warsaw as an engaging place to live, work and play through increasing awareness of the arts for all ages, according to the release. By bringing art events such as the Walk-n-Wander 2016 to the Warsaw community, the Commission is making an opportunity for community members and visitors to enjoy strolling among the Johnson life-size bronze statues.
Those interested in sponsoring a statue or donating to the Walk-n-Wander 2016 project should contact Paulette Davis at 574-453-3499.
If you wish to help the Warsaw Public Arts Commission continue with future art projects, donations may be made to the Artfully Warsaw Fund at the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, online at kcfoundation.org/donate or call 574-267-1901.
