Artistic Evening Features Works Of Sandy Maudlin

Posted
SYRACUSE – Chautauqua-Wawasee will present four artistic evenings featuring popular artists.
The first session highlights the painting world of Indiana artist Sandy Maudlin and will be today from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Syracuse Community Center, 1013 N. Long Drive, Syracuse.
Years ago, Maudlin quit her “day” job to pursue her love for art. Now a full-time professional artist, she loves to explore the varied possibilities of what paint can do and how she can best express what she’s wanting to say.
Most recently she’s been perfecting her own special batik process by painting on Yupo using Fluid Acrylics, and she admits that she’s very partial to this new combination of paper and paint. She also enjoys sharing her knowledge with other artists through teaching via workshops or in her home studio located near Cincinnati.
In early fall, she will be instructing a 10-day workshop in rural France about her batik process. She will also be the workshop instructor in Goshen this September and was recently featured in a special issue of the French magazine, Pratique de Artes.
Maudlin holds a degree in art education from Indiana University, with an area major in fine art and has been teaching workshops and classes for more than two decades. Her workshops focus on experimentation and creativity and are loaded with concise directions and plenty of individual help.
Maudlin has been awarded numerous Best of Shows, including the Gold Medal at the 2006 Ohio Watercolor Society Show as well as the Watercolor Society of Indiana’s Best of Show in 2008 and holds signature membership in both OWS and WSI.
She’s a member of the Greater Cincinnati Watercolor Society and served as its president for three years.
Her hope is that artists in her workshops will not only learn wonderful, new techniques as they create beautiful masterpieces, but will also be inspired and motivated to explore all the possibilities they can discover  about making good art.
Her paintings can be seen at http://sandymaudlin.blogspot.com/ with new work added frequently.
Marlies Selent-West, with Chautauqua-Wawasee, stated, “Sandy Maudlin is an extremely talented artist whose works seem to come alive and leaves you breathless. I hope that many people take advantage of this opportunity to see her work.”
Artistic evenings will continue on Thursdays in July, each with an incredible artist.
On July 12, don’t miss Douglas David. His work  can be “previewed” at http://www.douglasdavid.com/
July 19 will feature Lawrence Rudolech, the painter of “Lake Worshipers”, which was painted during boat-in worship on Lake Wawasee.
Last, but not least, on July 26, Douglas Grant will converse about his pottery and his new book.Chautauqua-Wawasee is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the community by providing quality program utilizing the four pillars of the Chautauqua Institution which consist of arts, education, religion and recreation.
