KISSIMMEE, FLA. - By beating Central Christian (McPherson, Kan.) 2-0 in Friday's game, the Grace College women's soccer team made its way into the final four of the NCCAA National Tournament.
The Lancers, now 12-7-1, meet 12-8-2 Western Baptist (Salem, Ore.) in today's second round.
Grace entered as the No. 2 seed, while Central Christian was a No. 7 seed. Eight teams are invited to the NCCAA National Tournament.
Eve Arthur scored both Grace goals. She gave the Lancers the 1-0 lead on an Ellen Kegarise assist 10 minutes into the game. Arthur added the second goal at the 40-minute mark.
The Lancers outshot Central Christian 23-6. Grace goalkeeper Hannah Loss was credited with the shutout.
Central Christian finished the season 14-5.
The Grace/Western Baptist matchup has a story within the game. Grace College's Sarah Orem will meet Alyson Dorr. Dorr, who plays for Western Baptist, is her sister.
Western Baptist, a No. 6 seed, advanced by beating No. 3 seed Hannibal-LaGrange (Hannibal, Mo.) 1-0.
Last year Grace finished eighth out of eight teams in the NCCAA National Tournament.
