BOURBON — Arthur G. Winkle, 85, Bourbon, passed away at 2:02 p.m. Aug. 8, 2017, in Catherine Kasper Life Center, Donaldson.

Art was born Dec. 5, 1931, in Goshen, to Forrest and Geneva Winkle.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Lemler Winkle; his daughter, April Winkle; his grandchildren: Dan (Crystal) Winkle and Brent (Beth) Corbett, both of Plymouth; Katie (David) Hunsberger, Duncan, S.C.; and Stasha (Beau) Wade, Warsaw; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Winkle; and three stepsisters: Janet Simpson, Sandy Knisely and Sharon Replogle.

Art was preceded in death by his son, Joey Winkle; and two half brothers, Bob Johnston and Carl Johnston Jr.

Art served on the Bourbon Volunteer Fire Department for 52 years. After many years of driving truck for several asphalt companies he took up woodworking — first oak and then barnsiding. His little red truck was often seen on the hunt for a barn to tear down.

Art and his daughter, April, had a craft business for many years. They traveled to several states participating in craft shows. Art also had a booth at Shipshewanna.

Besides his loving family, Art loved playing golf and cards. He was a member of American Legion Post 424, Bourbon; Moose Lodge Post 741, Plymouth; and the Masonic Lodge.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Art’s family is especially grateful to the staff at Catherine Kasper Life Center and Heartland Hospice for their tender and compassionate care.

Per Art’s request, he will be cremated. A private memorial will be held at a later date.

Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home is privileged to be entrusted with arranging the services.
