Arthritis Walk Raises $10,000

Posted

The Arthritis Walk¨, an annual nationwide walk event for the Arthritis Foundation, raised $10,000 in Kosciusko County.

More than 140 walkers turned out at Winona Lake to help raise funds and awareness to fight arthritis, the nation's number one cause of disability.

Tom Johnson, with Kosciusko Community Hospital, chair of this year's local Arthritis Walk, said, "Arthritis impacts so many lives and I am delighted to have helped to raise funds and awareness for the Arthritis Foundation. I know that funding leading-edge research, health education and government advocacy efforts will make a difference in the lives of the 1.7 million Hoosiers living with arthritis."

KCH also will provide a health education opportunity at 6 p.m. Thursday at the KCH Health & Wellness Center. Wanda Cullison will speak on diet and nutrition.

Arthritis or chronic joint symptoms are more widespread than imagined, affecting 66 million Americans, including one in three adults and 300,000 children.

Dollars raised at the Arthritis Walk will further the Arthritis Foundation's efforts to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases.
