Art Show Calls For Entries

Posted
Lakeland Art Association is calling for entries for the annual art show.

This show will be juried, which means a qualified judge will pre-screen art presented for entry and will select those pieces of art that will remain to compete for the final judging and prizes. This show has historically given more than $1,000 in prizes and awards to promote the arts in the community. The regional show also will be on display for the entire month of May so the community can enjoy and appreciate the high-quality art work that is entered from the tri-state region. The public is invited to attend a special artist's reception, which will be May 3 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the gallery.

Entries will be accepted April 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Kosciusko County Lakeland Art Gallery, 120 First St., Pierceton.

There is no limit to the number of entries that artists may submit and there are numerous categories open for submissions. In the interest of being equitable, prizes will be awarded based on percentages of works entered in each category. For example, if there are twice as many oil paintings as there are watercolors, then there will be twice as many awards in the oil-painting category.

Information regarding the show, guidelines and entry forms can be found in the show prospectus, which is available at the Lakeland Art Gallery. Hours at the gallery are Wednesdays through Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The public may view the show during these hours from April 30 through May 30.
