Arson Suspected In Thursday House Fire

Posted

Nearly $7,000 in damage was caused by a probable arson fire Thursday afternoon in Warsaw.

Officials said this is the third suspicious fire set at the residence at 419 W. Winona Ave. this week. An estimated $5,000 in damage resulted from a Monday fire set in a trash receptacle outside the structure. The outside of the residence was damaged in that incident. Also, someone set newspapers on fire between a screen door and entry door of the multiple-family dwelling Wednesday.

The house is owned by Patricia K. Buskirk of Warsaw. The home is offered for rent and currently has two tenants.

In Thursday's 2:21 p.m. incident, a mattress was set on fire in a second-story bedroom of the residence. The room in which the fire started also sustained heat and fire damage to the walls and other furnishings.

A Warsaw Fire Department spokesman said the fire was "incendiary in nature" and was set by an unknown person. The Warsaw Police Department is continuing the investigation.

Anyone with information about the suspicious fires can call the police department at 372-9511 or the fire department at 372-9501.
