ELKHART - Three men were arrested Wednesday afternoon in Elkhart on charges of possession of cocaine. The arrests ended a month-long investigation by the Kosciusko County Special Operations Team.
Marco A. Samayoa, 20, of Chicago, and Ryan D. Press, 19, and David C. Rios, 20, both of Portage, were arrested outside the Concord Mall.
Undercover officers reportedly made two purchases from the men in the past month, first for 1 ounce of cocaine and the second time, for 2 ounces.
The officers set up another deal, but the suspects changed the meeting place to Elkhart.
According to a member of the team, the drugs were driven straight from Chicago to Kosciusko County.
The Indiana State Police, Goshen Police Department and Elkhart County Sheriff's Department were involved in the arrests.
The three men allegedly had 5 ounces of cocaine and a semi-automatic handgun in their car when they were apprehended. Police also seized $1,450 cash and the car.
All three men are being held in the Elkhart County Jail pending hearings.
