Armed Robbery Probed

Two Warsaw women were held at gunpoint Saturday by an armed robber who forced his way into a grocery store office where they were preparing to close.

The lone gunman held two female employees of the Kroger grocery gtore, Center Street, at gunpoint, at 11:38 p.m. Saturday while forcing one to place money from the store safe into a plastic grocery bag, police said.

Kroger employees Carol Edwards and Judy Hall, both of Warsaw, told police they were confronted by a man wearing a green ski mask as he forced his way into the store office, said Capt. Steve Foster, Warsaw Police Department.

Once inside the office the suspect told one woman to lie down on the floor and instructed the other to get the money from the safe, Foster said. Witnesses told police they were unsure how much noney was taken from the safe.

The suspect fled on foot. Neither Edwards nor Hall was injured in the robbery.

Police are looking for a suspect described as a white male, 5'10", 140 pounds. The witnesses described the gun as a semi-automatic weapon, police said.
