A Warsaw man is in the Kosciusko County Jail charged with armed robbery in connection with a Nov. 29 incident at a Warsaw restaurant.
Zechariah Matthew Small, 18, of 2473 S. CR 350E, Warsaw, is being held on $5,000 bond. He was arrested Thursday evening on a warrant that was issued in January.
Small allegedly pepper-sprayed an employee of Richard's Restaurant outside the business shortly before 11 p.m. that night and made off with a deposit bag containing money to be taken to the bank.
Small was an employee of Richard's Restaurant on Commerce Drive when the incident occurred. He reportedly was riding a bicycle around in the parking lot waiting for the female employee who was accosted to exit the business.
After allegedly taking the money bag, Small rode the bicycle behind Staples, where he shed the black clothing and white skeleton mask he was wearing and dropped the container of pepper spray. Most of those items were found in that location two weeks later.
Police believe Small left the area in a vehicle driven by an accomplice. A second arrest in this case is anticipated.
The incident was investigated by the Warsaw Police Department.
