Students from Warsaw and Whitko will compete in the state finals of the Ameritech Hoosier Academic Super Bowl.
The fine arts team from Warsaw and the interdisciplinary teams from Warsaw and Whitko finished in the top six following competition Monday at 18 sites across the state.
The Hoosier Academic Super Bowl is the state's top academic competition for high school students. Student teams race the clock to answer brain-teasing questions in math, English, science, social studies, fine arts and interdisciplinary categories.
In the state competition May 3, champions will be crowned in each subject area in the four school enrollment classes. Champions will receive Olympic-type medals in special award ceremonies.
Whitko's class 2 interdisciplinary team consisted of Colleen Crist, Stephanie Vance, Julie Hathaway, Noah Tucker, Bryan Rose and Amanda Morphew.
Warsaw competed in the class 1 enrollment category. The fine arts team is made up of Crista Carpenter, Jeff Ciula, Brandi Deskins and Gillian Morrison. The interdisciplinary team comprises Ciula, Morrison, Heather Byrd, Stephanie Campbell, Betsy Lamp and Beth Wallace.
