Mother Nature was the real winner around parts of the area in Week 5 of the high school football season. After long delays because of lightning and/or heavy winds and precipitation, a trio of local prep football games were postponed Friday night and rescheduled to resume today. At Fisher Field, the host Warsaw Tigers made it to halftime of their Homecoming game before the weather hit. Warsaw is trailing the Northridge Raiders 7-0, and the Tigers will receive the kickoff to start the second half of the Northern Lakes Conference battle, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Northridge received the opening kickoff Friday and took 9:25 off the game clock before scoring on a 1-yard run. At Andrews Field in Nappanee, the Wawasee Warriors trail the host NorthWood Panthers 3-0 with 4:20 remaining in the first quarter of their NLC contest. The Panthers put the game’s only points on the scoreboard with a 24-yard field goal by Jaron Mullet. Wawasee will have first down and the ball at its own 34-yard line when play resumes at 7 p.m. tonight. In Hoosier North Atlantic Conference action, the Triton Trojans trail the host Culver Cavaliers 6-0 with 7:20 left in the first quarter. The game is slated to resume at 6 p.m. tonight.
