WEST LAFAYETTE – Warsaw’s girls track team finished tied for 13th at the Hoosier State Relays indoor track meet held on the Purdue campus in West Lafayette Saturday. The 4x200 relay team of Mariah Harter, Samantha Alexander, Tennie Worrell and Audrey Rich set a new school record with a time of 1:46.23, good for fifth overall and earning the quartet All-State honors. The 4x400 relay team of Nicole Eckert, Abbi Curtis, Audrey Rich and Worrell also earned All-State honors with a seventh-place finish. The 4:10.33 recorded is the second-fastest time in school history. Alexander earned a second All-State designation with a fourth-place finish in the long jump. Allison Miller was 11th in the 3200 run, and the 4x800 relay team of Claire Kehler, Charlene Orr, Mia Beckham, and Lauren Orr finished 17th. The girls team is scheduled to open its outdoor season with the Tigers and South Bend-Washington traveling to Penn at 5 p.m. Wednesday. In the boys competition, Warsaw’s Owen Glogovsky finished 10th in the 3200 run in 9:40.09. The 4x400 team of D'Andre Street, Landan Perry, Daniel Messenger and Riley Rhoades won their heat and placed 17th overall with a time of 3:32.8. The Tigers kick off their schedule Thursday against Fort Wayne Snider. Wawasee Results The Warriors’ Clayton Cook earned All-State honors with a third-place finish in the 60 hurdles and a sixth-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 1/2 inch. Cook ran a 8.29 in the hurdles, just .06 off the winning pace. Wawasee’s J.J. Gilmer finished 14th in the high hump with a leap of 6 feet. The Warrior track teams’ outdoor season opener with Columbia City tonight has been cancelled. Instead, Wawasee will open the outdoor season at the Jim Eger Charger Relays, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at Elkhart Memorial.
