April Trial Date Set for Hagan

COLUMBIA CITY – The trial date for David Hagan, 52, was set this morning in Whitley County courthouse for 9 a.m. on April 19.
Hagan is accused of one count of murder and one count of reckless homicide in the death of Adam Porter, 29, South Whitley.
A Whitley County grand jury indicted Hagan in November for the murder and reckless homicide of Porter on Aug. 14 in South Whitley. Hagan shot Porter in Hagan’s backyard at 229 W. Buckeye St., South Whitley, at 8:44 p.m.
The grand jury issued the charges after meeting for three days in Columbia City, the county seat, examining evidence and deliberating whether or not criminal charges should be brought.
Porter is the son of Danny G. Porter and Tonya E. Dundas Warner. He worked with his father at DP Plumbing – Heating – Electrical.
Hagan is represented by attorney Patrick Arata. Judge James Heuer is presiding, and the prosecuting attorney is Matt Rentschler.
