ROANOKE – Celebrating two years at her Roanoke gallery, local artist Penny French-Deal will host an open house Nov. 8 and 9 at the gallery, 196 N. Main St., Roanoke. Special hours are 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Friday from 5 – 7 p.m. guest guitarist Kent Young will provide music for patrons while tasting hors d’oeuvres and enjoying the ambiance of original oil paintings. An award-winning artist who has exhibited nationally and internationally, French-Deal describes her work as a personal impressionistic style. “An abstraction of shapes, colors and contrast dance on the canvas and allow one to intuitively fill in details. This natural interaction immediately places one in the scene, fully engaged with emotion and imagination of being in that place,” she said in the announcement for the open house. She also holds memberships in the Indiana Artists Club, Hoosier Salon, American Women Artists and Indiana Plein Air Painters. French-Deal has a studio at her home in North Manchester and manages her own gallery in Roanoke. Visit her gallery either by appointment or during regular hours of noon – 6 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. An example of her work can be viewed on her website: www.french-deal.com or contact her at penny@french-deal.com.
