MENTONE – Anne E. Utter, 80, Winona Lake and formerly of Mentone, passed at 1:17 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, at the Visiting Nurses and Hospice Home of Fort Wayne.
She was born on Oct. 30, 1938, in Warsaw to Franklin and Esther Dugley Nelson. She was married on Sept. 16, 1960, in Mentone to Terry L. Utter, who preceded on July 9, 1998.
She had been a USDA meat inspector for 16 years traveling the entire state. Also Anne and her husband had been the owners of the Utter’s Oil Company of Mentone.
She attended Burket School for many years and then graduated from Mentone High School in 1956. She had been a lifetime member and supporter of Kosciusko County 4-H Club. She also was a member of the Psi Iota Xi. Anne enjoyed her traveling bowling team, gardening and playing softball for the Mentone Royals. She served as a Casa case worker in Warsaw for many years as well.
She is survived by daughter, Lynn and husband Glenn Novitski, Spencerville; grandchildren, Matthew, Eric and Alex; great-grandchildren, Raelyn and Hunter.
She was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Esther in April 2019; husband, Terry Utter; daughter, Leigh A. Utter in August 2019; brother, Robert Nelson.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, Oct. 4 at King Memorial Home, Mentone. Funeral services will be at noon Friday, Oct. 4 at the funeral home, with Pastor Jason Rice officiating. Burial will be at Mentone Cemetery, Mentone.
