SYRACUSE – Anna Sudlow, 103, Syracuse, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 6, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse. She was born Dec. 28, 1912, in Elkhart County, to Jesse and Merta Harsh Rex. On Nov. 21, 1931, in Syracuse, she married W.A. “John” Sudlow, who preceded her in death Nov. 6, 1993. She started her education at the Hex School, then graduated from Syracuse High School in 1931. She and her husband founded Sudlow’s Pier Shop in 1937 and worked together until 1979, when they sold the business to their daughter and son-in-law. She and Johnny were founding members of the Auburn Cord Dusenburg Club. She was active in the PTA of Syracuse, Senior Mothers Club and the Wednesday Afternoon Literary Club. She enjoyed bowling, golf and traveling throughout much of the world and RV’d around the United States. She and her husband also enjoyed their little cabin in Ontario, Canada. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. She is survived by her daughter, Constance Heckaman; a grandson, John Heckaman; two great-granddaughters, Caitlin Pavey and Jamsey Heckaman; a great-grandson, Alec Heckaman; a nephew, Jesse (and spouse Donna) Rex; and a niece, Sandy. She was preceded by her parents; a sister, Ida Mae, and her husband, Louis Hamman; two brothers, Charles and Roscoe Rex; a son-in-law, David Heckaman; a grandson, Rex Heckaman; a nephew, Ralph Rex; and a niece, Donna Jean Reif.
