Anna Brue Tjernagel, 80, was carried in the arms of her Savior to her heavenly home at 12:25 a.m. Dec. 18, 2017, while she was residing at Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.
Anna was born a twin of Lois Young on Aug. 7, 1937, in Mason City, Iowa, to Neelak and Ada Tjernagel. She moved with her family many, many times, but finally settled down at the Whitlock in Bremen for 20 years, and finished her life at Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.
Being a child of God, she worshipped regularly at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bremen. She especially enjoyed the Women's Thursday Morning Bible Class, attending the Lutheran Women's Missionary Society and singing in the Bremen Pines Senior Choir. She found many ways to be a helper.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Neelak and Ada Tjernagel; her twin sister, Lois Young Van Rooy; her brother, Allan Andreas Tjernagel; and a nephew, Michael Van Rooy.
She is survived by two nieces, Alison Van Rooy and her family of Ontario, Canada, and Michelle Carpenter, Warsaw; two nephews, Shawn Tjernagel and family, Michigan Center, Mich., and Tim Tjernagel and family, Winona Lake; a great-niece, Seanin Van Rooy, Canada; a sister-in-law, Ellen Tjernagel, Warsaw; and many cousins.
Her body was donated to the Anatomical Education program, Indianapolis, to be used for medical research.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate her entrance into heaven, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bremen. The Rev. Roger E. Rohde will officiate.
Those who knew her have warm memories of Anna, always a quiet presence and a pure heart.
