Anita M. BendeleAnita M. Bendele, 79, of Fort Wayne, passed away Friday, Aug. 19, 2022.
She was born to B.J. and Alma Hoopingarner.
She was a Brownie leader for the Bloomingdale Troop, Cub Scout District program chairman, a Boy Scout Merit badge counselor, Den Mother and commissioner for the Precious Blood Troop, a 4-H leader for Fort Wayne and Title 1 representative. She has been a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne and spent her time working as a nurse.
She is survived by her six children: Catina (Philip Keifer) Bendele, Michael Bendele, Rebecca (Michael) Winkelman, Robert Bendele, Kate Bendele and Virginia (Rick) McDonald; grandchildren: Kristia (Anthony) Goodnight, Krystal Bendele, Melinda (Michael) Ford, Sarah (Nick) Klein, Jacqueline Kline, Anthony Sills, Hezekiah (Bea) Bendele and Ember Bendele; great-grandchildren: Ethan, Lilith, Yakira and another on the way; and her sister, Rita. Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Stephan Bendele; her parents; and her daughter, Katherine.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne. Burial will take place at noon on Thursday, Aug. 25 at Covington Memorial Gardens, with visitation one hour prior at the funeral home.
