Animal Welfare League To Transfer To New Facility; Grand Opening Sept. 28

Posted
PIERCETON – The Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County will be transitioning to its new facility starting Saturday.

Due to the transition, there will be no abandonment kennels outside the current shelter at 3489 E. CR 100S, Pierceton. Through Saturday, stray animals can only be dropped off at the current facility by the public during business hours, with after-hours drop off only available to law enforcement. Owners are asked to hold off on any surrenders until after Sept. 28.

Between Wednesday and Friday, adoptable cats will be transferred to the Small Dog Adoption Room so existing kennels can be removed, sanitized and installed in the new facility.

The move to the new facility will be from Saturday to Sept. 27, where the shelter will be closed to the public, no public surrenders or strays will be accepted, no adoptions will take place and strays can only be brought to the shelter by law enforcement.

Starting Sept. 28, there will be no abandonment kennels available outside the new facility, 1048 S. CR 325E, Pierceton. Surrenders during business hours will be at the south side of the new AWL building with after-hour drop off to be done only by law enforcement.

The grand opening of the new AWL facility will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 28.
