The recent fund-raiser for the animal shelter will have a direct impact on the facility in Warsaw.
As a result of the Shelter Shuffle, which raised about $7,000, the department will be able to replace old cat cages that are considered too small for the animals.
Shelter director Kay Amsden received approval from county council Thursday to spend $4,000 of the money to purchase new cages.
She commended the public for its support. "The money is still coming in. The community has been very supportive," she said.
The fund-raiser came after Amsden failed to win an appeal during the annual budget session for extra funding.
