Before seeing "American Teen," the documentary filmed in Warsaw and at Warsaw Community High School, check out the soundtrack in stores Tuesday.

A special hometown screening to premiere the film is in the works for early August in Warsaw, prior to the film's release Aug. 15 at North Pointe Cinemas. The film premieres in New York and Los Angeles July 25.Columbia Records is releasing the soundtrack Tuesday.

According to the press release from Columbia Records, "Critics are already raving about the Sundance hit 'American Teen,' director Nanette Burstein's touching, candid and hilarious look at five real high school seniors in small-town Indiana. More than just a modern-day 'Breakfast Club,' Burstein chronicles the lives of five completely different students, examining the cliques they belong to, the questions they ponder and the trials and tribulations they face preparing for adulthood in the new millennium.

"Through it all, the one constant is music. Featuring some of today's hottest up-and-coming acts ... a steady mix of the students' favorite bands as culled directly from their iPods while filming, and peppered with timeless classics ... 'American Teen Music from the Motion Picture' is more than just a motion picture soundtrack, it is the soundtrack of five young adults as they embark on one of the most significant years of their lives."

Burstein is quoted in the press release as saying, "When I approached the music for this movie, I wanted the musical choices to be inspired by the playlists of Hannah (Bailey), Jake (Tusing), Megan (Krizmanich), Colin (Clemens) and Mitch (Reinholt), the main characters of the movie. So throughout the year of filming in Warsaw, Indiana, I would download as much music as I could from the students' iPods ... I think the sum total really captures the emotions that these five seniors experienced through their final year of high school."

The soundtrack starts off with the song "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance with You" by Black Kids.

The following 14 tracks include: "Great DJ" by The Ting Tings; "Lack of View (Edit)" by Sunny Day Sets Fire; "Breathe In (The Jason Bentley Remix)" by Frou Frou; "The Great Escape" by Patrick Watson; "Trouble" by Cat Stevens; "Love is In The Air" by John Paul Young; "Let's Go Out" by Ryan Lindsey; "Dawn of the Dead" by Does It Offend You, Yeah?; "King and Queens" by Luna Halo; "Your Move" by Blackalicous; "Sea Ghost" by The Unicorns; "Adventures In Solitude" by The New Pornographers; "Train" by Nyles Lannon; and "Kids" by MGMT.
