Alvin Dean WilliamsBOURBON – Alvin Dean Williams, age 80, of Tippecanoe, was decommissioned on Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021, while a resident of Life Care Center of Rochester.
Alvin was commissioned the son of Chester Alvin and Ethelyn Nancy Hamer Williams at Lafayette on July 8, 1941. He was a resident of Tippecanoe for the past 52 years and was employed as a boiler operator at RR Donnelly of Warsaw. He enjoyed gardening, collecting and selling sports memorabilia, action figures, racing memorabilia (NASCAR – Roush Racing) and leatherworking. In his younger years, he participated in mud racing.
Alvin was a proud Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He served on the USS Cusk, USS Gudgeon, USS Sabalo and USS Bashaw.
Alvin will be missed by his daughters: Mindi Williams (significant other Jeff Kinsey), of Tippecanoe; Jestina (Warren) Schultz, of Warsaw; sons: Blake (Julie) Williams, of Indianapolis; and Lance (Tracy) Williams, of Crawfordsville. He will also be missed by his grandchildren: Danny, Zack, Emma and Owen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elizabeth Nancy Meier.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St. Bourbon. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 2:30 PM in the Bedford Cemetery, Monon.
