The Patron Party for this year's Patriotic Red Ball was held Wednesday at Bistro 'A Lago. Lake City Bank hosted the event, which carried an "Officer's Club" theme. The highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the patriotic necklace, which will be up for bid in the Red Ball silent auction.
The necklace (pictured at right) was designed exclusively for the Red Ball by Susan and Bill Allen, Allen Designs. The 18-inch, 14-karat yellow gold chain contains three separate pendants in a wave design, which may be worn individually or in groups of two or three. As pictured, the left wave is rubies, set in yellow gold; the center is diamonds, set in white gold; and the right is sapphires, set in yellow gold. Each of the waves has diamonds at the top and measures approximately 1-3/8 inches long. The stones, with a total weight of 2.01 karats, are done in diamond cut to maximize their brilliance.
Some of the other items available for silent bidding are: a sunset boat cruise on Lake Tippecanoe; a dog sledding trip in Michigan's Upper Peninsula; instant 4th of July party baskets containing a selection of libations; and many other items.
Patrons of this year's Ball are: Chuck and Lois Niemier; Tom and Jo Lemon; Myer Levin & Sons; Dalton Corp.; Explorer Van; Grossnickle Family Foundation; Wawasee Boat Co.; Larry Allen Syracuse Family Practice; Larry and Cathy Teghtmeyer; Symmetry Medical; Dekko Heating; Scott and Felicity Lennox; Biomet Foundation; Chandler and Erin Williams; Depuy Johnson & Johnson; Medtronic Sofamor Danek; Zimmer; R.R. Donnelley & Sons; Lake City Bank; Jerry and Norma Ferguson; and Dr. Dane and Mary Louise Miller.
The ball will be on Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the Center Lake Pavilion, Warsaw. Individual tickets are $100 each, which includes: dinner with all-American food from Bistro 'A Lago; the silent auction; and dancing to "Spike and the Bulldogs," featuring 60's rock 'n' roll. The attire is semi-formal, but not black tie. Business suits with patriotic ties, service uniforms and anything red, white and blue follow the patriotic theme.
