Allen Russell “Doc” Martindale, DPM, 83, of Warsaw, passed away on Nov. 29, 2018, at Legacy Heights in Charlotte, N.C.
He was born July 26, 1935, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Helen Martindale.
Doc was born in Indianapolis and graduated from Southport High School. He enjoyed athletics, music and drama during his youth. He earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana Central (now the University of Indianapolis) and then attended Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago. In 1959, Doc moved his family to Fort Wayne, where he practiced medicine for over 35 years.
His love of the water and Lake Wawasee led him to open a practice in Warsaw. Doc immersed himself in the medical community in Warsaw. He later joined the staff at Kosciusko Community Hospital.
In Doc's retirement, he enjoyed traveling, golfing and helping his friends. He also had a passion for buying and selling cars as a hobby. Doc's infectious smile will be remembered by all who met him.
Allen is survived by his sons, Al Martindale and his wife, Lucy, of Durham, N.C.; and Mark and his wife, Deb, of Charlotte, N.C., and his ex-wife, Patricia Martindale of Charlotte. Also surviving are grandchildren Matt; Andrew and his wife, Alicia; Lauren Dennis and her husband, Joe; Meredith; and Philip; great-grandchildren Irie, Ava, Alena, Alivia and Nora; and his longtime companion, Sharon Holtz of Warsaw.
