Warsaw police are filing charges against two Warsaw men in connection with a September string of vandalism that damaged property at 15 area businesses.

Timothy B. Hawkins, 18, of 116 E. Fort Wayne St., Warsaw, and Michael L. Batta, 19, of 307 Mineral Springs #1, Winona Lake, allegedly went on a window shooting spree Sept. 4-6 with a BB gun.

Police estimate that Batta and Hawkins did damage totaling more than $8,500. The suspects shot out business windows and glass doors as well as damaging cars.

According to police reports, on the first night the suspects drove around Warsaw shooting at street signs. But by the second night the vandalism escalated to business windows and cars.

The details of the incidents have been forwarded to the prosecutor's office for the filing of charges against the two suspects.

The WPD investigation into this and other incidents of BB gun vandalism continues.
