Alice E. Schooley, 89, of Warsaw, died at 5:04 p.m. Oct. 15, 2011, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
She was born Aug. 19, 1922, in Warsaw, to Herman and Elsie Beigh Kelly. On Dec. 29, 1940, in Warsaw, she married Everett D. “Mike” Schooley, who survives.
A lifetime Warsaw resident, she was a homemaker, seamstress and babysat in her home for many years. She was a member of First Brethren Church, where she taught Sunday School. She and her husband, along with Ray and Mary Compton, started the community Thanksgiving dinner more than 30 years ago and is now sponsored by the Elks. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 49 and the Salvation Army Auxiliary and was a member and past president of Crystal Home Economics Club. She collected teddy bears, loved working with crafts, enjoyed reading and was interested in reading about angels. She was known to have said that she would rather sew than eat. She loved her husband, daughters and grandchildren and would do anything for them.
Also surviving are four daughters: Janice Cox, Tanya Heath, Cheryl Faris and Sally (and spouse Steve) Kuhn, all of Warsaw; nine grandchildren: Darrell (and spouse Rose) Cox, Greg Cox, Cathy (and spouse David) Blackwell, Teresa (and spouse Brian) Rich, Angela (and spouse Brian) Clouse, Michelle Polston, Scott (and spouse Karen) Wallis, Pam (and spouse John) Finken, Bud (and spouse Kathy) Phillips; 33 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Ernest Kelly; and three sisters, Lois, Lucy and Willodean Kelly.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Jeff Pfeiffer officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
