GOSHEN – Alice E. Hoover, 96, Goshen, formerly of New Paris, died 7:31 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, 2020, at Courtyard Healthcare.
She was born March 11, 1924, in Mishawaka, to George Dewey and Lucy May Starner Hummel. On Oct. 21, 1944, in Syracuse, she married Walter J. Hoover, and he died June 11, 1983.
Surviving are a daughter, Judy L. Galloway, New Paris. sons, William F. (Deloris) Hoover, New Paris; Thomas L. (Jackie) Hoover, Mishawaka; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Walter; son, Harold George Hoover; and a brother, Marvin Hummel.
Alice was a bookkeeper for Goshen Hospital for nine years and Oaklawn for 29 years. She was a member of New Paris Missionary Church. She enjoyed traveling and international travel. Alice enjoyed collecting clocks, beanie babies, roosters, mini oil lamps, shopping and live theater plays.
Private graveside services will be held at New Paris Cemetery. Pastor Dave Hackney will officiate.
Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, Goshen, is handling arrangements.
