Alice Butz, 77, Hernando, Fla., formerly of Pierceton, passed from this life Feb. 14, 2016. She was born June 21, 1938, in Lake County, Tenn., to Charles and Pauline Arrington Leary. She married Glen Butz, who preceded her in death. She was an active Red Cross volunteer for many years, attended Baptist and Lutheran churches in Tennessee and Indiana, and was a member of a Red Hat Society in Florida. She was known to all as a compassionate caregiver, hospitable wife and mother, and loved by many. She is survived by three daughters: Beth (and spouse Scott) Turner, Columbia City; Carol (and spouse Jon) Esenwein, Pierceton; Kimberlee (and spouse Keith) Winnett, Fort Wayne; a son, Benjamin Butz, Pierceton; a legacy of 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with two new additions coming soon. She also was preceeded in death by her parents and a sister, Mildred Campbell. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ridgely Curry Funeral Chapel, Ridgely, Tenn. A memorial service will be at a later date in Pierceton. Calling is from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel.
