PIERCETON - Alejandro "Alex" DeLaCruz, 58, of Warsaw, passed away surrounded by his family at 9:50 p.m. June 1, 2010, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born Oct. 6, 1951, in Warsaw, to Pablo and Manuela Aleman DeLaCruz Sr. On Nov. 15, 1975, in Pierceton, he married Betty Ann Shepherd, who survives.
A lifetime Warsaw area resident, he worked at Zimmer Inc. for 35 years and was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and American Legion Post 258, both in Pierceton. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1970-74.
Also surviving are a son, Nathan Alejandro DeLaCruz, Warsaw; a stepson, Kenneth M. Shepherd, Elkhart; a grandson, Trevor Nathaniel DeLaCruz, Claypool; his mother, Manuela DeLaCruz, Pierceton; three sisters: Eva (and spouse Jose) Guerrero, Columbia City; Linda (and spouse John) Amezquita, Elkhart; and Elvia (and spouse Rod) Obregon, Pierceton; two brothers, Henry (and spouse Roxanne) DeLaCruz, Larwill, and Pablo (and spouse Barb) DeLaCruz Jr., Warsaw; and a special friend, Kristen Tucker, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his father, Pablo DeLaCruz Sr., who died March 17, 2009.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Ind. 13, Pierceton, with Pastor Jeff Pfeifer officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Pierceton.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home. There will be military honors by members of American Legion Post 258, Pierceton, and Veterans of Foreign Wars 1126, Warsaw .
