As you may have read in the Times-Union earlier this week, Alderfer Bergen & Co. has officially merged with Beacon Pointe Advisors. You’ll start to see the new name on our signs and materials, but before you worry about any changes, let us tell you what this really means, and more importantly, what isn’t changing.
This decision came after a lot of thought and reflection. Over the last few years, more of our time has been pulled into the business side of things, compliance, HR, operations and all the behind-the-scenes work. While that’s necessary, it started to take us away from what we truly enjoy: working directly with you, our clients.
That’s when we realized it was time to find a partner, not just any partner, but one that shared our values, investment philosophy and commitment to personalized service. After an exhaustive search, Beacon Pointe just felt like the right fit. They’re independent, client-focused and their culture really lined up with ours.
You’ll notice a new name: Beacon Pointe Advisors. Beyond that, very little will feel different to you.
• Same People. Our entire team is staying on. You’ll still be working with the same advisors and staff you’ve come to know and trust.
• Same Office. We're still right here in Warsaw. No relocation or remote-only teams, our Kosciusko County roots are deep, and we’re staying local.
• Same Personalized Service. We’re not becoming a giant call center. You’ll still get the thoughtful, hands-on advice we’ve always provided.
• Same Commitment To The Community. Community involvement, including our support for the KC Riley Kids Fund, will continue to be a priority for us.
• Leadership Update. One exciting internal change we want to share is that Jason Gergely, CFP®, CRPC®, is officially stepping up to join Alan and Mike as a partner and managing director. Gergely has been with the firm for over 10 years, and during that time, he’s earned the respect of clients and colleagues alike through his integrity, professionalism and deep care for the families we serve. With this new role, he will help oversee the Warsaw office alongside Alan and myself, a natural next step for someone who’s already been such a cornerstone of our team.
What is changing, and what we're excited about, are the added resources this partnership brings.
• A Deeper Bench Of Professionals. We now have access to tax advisors, CPAs, estate planning attorneys and family office services. While we’re not doing taxes or wills ourselves, we now have trusted professionals we can lean on for advice and share that with you.
• More Robust Invest-ment Options. Up to now, our investment team has been just the two of us. Now, we’re backed by a team of over 40 investment professionals who bring institutional-level research and strategy to the table. This will help us serve you better, without changing the core philosophy of your portfolio.
• Custodian Updates. We’re now working with Fidelity and Charles Schwab, both names you know. That move opens the door to better tools and resources, especially since many local employers already use Fidelity for retirement plans.
• No More Commissions. Going forward, we’ll be operating entirely on a fee-based model. We’ve always been committed to transparency, and we are excited to eliminate product commissions, just transparent fees based on assets under management. We believe that’s the right way to align our goals with yours.
Let us be very clear: We’re still the same people you’ve trusted for years, and we’re still committed to our clients here in Kosciusko County.
We’re genuinely excited about this next chapter. This move gives us more time to focus on what matters most, you. With more tools, a larger team behind us, and the same heart for service and community, we feel more confident than ever in the future.
