Alcohol Permits Approved By Board

Posted

After a brief discussion with the co-owners of Hoggles, South Buffalo Street, Warsaw, the Kosciusko County Alcoholic Beverage Commission approved the business' beer, wine and liquor retailer permit.

Laura Kats, one of the co-owners, had two driving-while-intoxicated violations against her. A person with three can no longer hold a liquor license. The violations, according to Kats, came before she and Troy W. Reith were owners of Hoggles but she did not go to court for them until this past August.

Kats said she no longer drinks due to medication she now is on.

A transfer of ownership of two permits was approved for The Keg, West Van Buren Street, Leesburg, including a beer and wine retailer permit and a Sunday sales retailer permit.

Also, the ABC approved the following renewals:

• Dewart Lake Inn, North CR 300E, Syracuse, beer, wine and liquor and Sunday sales retailer permits.

• Marsh Supermarkets, East Buffalo Street, Warsaw, beer and wine dealer permit.

• Sleepy Owl, Ind. 13, Syracuse, beer, wine and liquor and Sunday sales retailer permits.

• Leesburg Liquors, South Main Street, Leesburg, beer, wine and liquor dealer permit.

• Stacy's Sports Inn, Ind. 15, Leesburg, beer, wine and liquor retailer permit.

• The Great Wall, East Center Street, Warsaw, beer and wine and Sunday sales retailer permits.

• Village Pantry, South Buffalo Street, Warsaw, beer and wine dealer permit.

Members of the ABC are chairman Gordon Vanator, Elim Smith, Kenneth Johnson and excise officer Patty Fleck. They meet at 1 p.m. in the county courthouse, Warsaw, on the first Thursday of every month.
