I have always considered Winona Lake as being anointed of the Lord. But, when alcohol was introduced at the Boathouse, we started a downhill slide. Now we are having alcohol at the shops of the Village of Winona who do not even sell alcohol or food. This occurred during the Taste of Winona festival last Saturday as people walked up and down the streets flaunting wineglasses in their hands, refilling them with different wines at the different shops. Surely, Billy Sunday must have turned over in his grave.
Do these shop owners think they are gaining the blessings of the Lord by exposing drinking of alcohol as a pleasurable accepted indulgence in public places? There were children all around observing and developing opinions about their choices for the future.
In last night's news article about the town council meeting, I discovered they are considering allowing liquor beyond beer and wine sold in Winona Lake. I imagine this is so restaurants located in the middle of our historically spiritual place can now sell hard liquor.
Will the Christians of Winona Lake tolerate this type of government and turn our community into a tavern atmosphere? It has taken some time to plan the destruction of the Christian heritage of Winona Lake. It didn't just happen overnight. Christians wake up! Let the town council hear how you feel. If you care what is happening, speak up and don't let Satan move in to Winona Lake. This is hallowed ground.
