Akron Woman Critical After Friday Morning CrashAn Akron woman was in critical condition late Friday morning after a two-vehicle crash.

Arissa Hammond, 40, Akron, was still listed in critical condition at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne Friday night, a hospital spokeswoman said. The driver of the other vehicle, Jaden Biddle, 21, Warsaw, was not injured, according to a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department news release.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Ind. 25 and CR 100S near Warsaw.

KCSD deputies and emergency personnel responded to the scene at approximately 10:56 a.m. Friday.

According to police, Biddle was traveling south on Ind. 25 in a 2007 Chevy Tahoe when Hammond entered the intersection at CR 100S going west in her 1994 Ford Escort. Evidence at the scene indicates Hammond failed to yield the right of way to Biddle, the release states.

Hammond was taken to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, for treatment of extensive head injuries.

The crash is under investigation.

The Kosciusko County Fatal Team was assisted at the scene by members of the Warsaw Fire Department, Lutheran EMS, the Warsaw Police Department and KCSD.
