AKRON – Pike Lumber Company and Rochester Telephone Company presented the Akron Summer Reading Camp with grants of $250 each from the companies’ donor advised funds administered through the Fulton County Community Foundation.
The Summer Reading Camp allows students in kindergarten to second grades to participate in a variety of activities during the summer which help improve reading skills. Many students have not been able to participate in the program due to lack of transportation to the camp held at Akron Elementary School.
Fulton County Transpo and Kosciusko Area Bus Service provide services for students during the summer for a flat $20 fee and these grants will help offset that cost for up to 25 students.
