Akron Public Library’s Summer Reading Program Is Officially Underway

AKRON – Akron Public Library’s "Unearth a Story" Summer Reading Program is officially underway, bringing hands-on learning and creativity to local youth.
The library launched its first week of activities with "Chalk the Walk," where children filled the sidewalks with colorful chalk artistry.
Building on that, 140 young participants attended their "Preparing for Adventure" workshop this past week. Designed for aspiring paleontologists and archaeologists, the interactive event featured five educational stations. Children created their own ID badges, assembled field guides, practiced rock identification, designed paleontologist vests and tested their excavation skills by mining chocolate chips from cookies.
