Akron Man Faces Child Molesting Charge An Akron man is being held on $51,000 bail after he allegedly admitted to raping a juvenile boy.
Austin John Collins, 23, of 8345 S. Ind. 19, Akron, and also showing an address of 5760 W. Decoy Road, Mentone, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 8:13 a.m. Monday and faces a Level 1 felony charge of child molesting.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed Thursday in Kosciusko Superior Court I, on Dec. 9 Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputies were assigned a case of possible child molestation involving Collins.
On Dec. 13, the juvenile appeared for a forensic interview in Elkhart County. The juvenile told police that Collins pulled him into a room, pulled down his pants and then Collins proceeded to have sex with him, according to court papers.
Court papers also state that when police spoke with Collins on Jan. 2, he admitted he “dragged (the boy) into a bedroom and raped him.” When police asked what he meant by “raped him,” Collins admitted to what the boy said happened, the affidavit states.
