AKRON - Flames rose from the Akron Foundry, 502 E. Main St., Thursday evening, thoroughly damaging the plant.
Seven fire departments were called around 6 p.m. to the foundry after a fire started and spread throughout the plant. Seventy-five firefighters fought the blaze for two hours before deeming it controlled. No firefighters were injured, and no one in the plant was harmed. The building was a total loss.
Fire investigators have not established a cause for the fire.
