AKRON – The Akron Area Arts League is sponsoring three summer concerts in the Akron downtown park. This Friday will feature the big band sound of Rod Naftsger’s Fascinating Rhythm. On July 22, NightShift will take the stage playing classic rock from the 1950s and 1960s. On July 29, listeners will hear Dixieland sounds from the Swampwater Stompers. The music starts at 6:30 p.m. Bring a chair and enjoy the music. These concerts are free thanks to a grant from the Indiana Arts Commission though partners Community Foundation of St. Joseph County and the NEA, a federal program. Programs will be cancelled in case of inclement weather. Call Karen at 574-598-2875 to check if in doubt.
