The Board Of Aviation Commissioners Tuesday discussed how a President-elect Obama stimulus package may affect the Warsaw Municipal Airport.
Mark Shillington, from Woolpert Engineering, told the board he received a call Friday afternoon from the Federal Aviation Administration. He was given a couple of hours to compile a list of projects should a stimulus package pass when Obama enters office.
Shillington said that a potential stimulus package could mean $600 million for airports.
Shillington requested that, should a stimulus package pass, Warsaw Airport be considered for a taxi cab lighting system.
Shillington then received another call stating to compile a list of projects if another stimulus package is passed in 2010.
Shillington then put Warsaw on the 2010 list for a new terminal.
The Indiana Department of Transportation is collecting all the data, then giving it to the FAA, who will then give the data to Obama's transition team.
According to Shillington, it's not clear on who exactly will make the decision of what projects are approved and what projects aren't.
Shillington also gave the board information on the ongoing AEP Power Line feasibility study.
The board was given a first draft of a letter Shillington is working on for the FAA. The board also approved a pay request from the FAA for a grant of $7,873.
During Warsaw Municipal Airport Manager David Beall's report, he presented the fuel usage report for November.
Beall also presented an amendment to the fuel enterprise fund which clarified the definition of "transient line services." The board approved the amendment.
Beall also showed the proposed 2009 board meeting schedule.
The board approved a mutual operations agreement with Greg Garber. Garber is building what will be called "Garber Field" on his property north of Chapman Lake.
Board President Jay Rigdon asked if this agreement will "in any way affect what we do here."
Beall said the agreement is required by the FAA. Shillington said it didn't appear to affect the airport in any way.
The board also discussed problems with the DePuy/Image Air gate located off CR 300. Some patrons have said they have been unable to open the gate at times.
Beall said that he and maintenance people have worked on the gate but haven't seen a problem. They will continue to look into the matter.
