WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Mark Souder announced Friday that Warsaw Municipal Airport was awarded a $45,590 grant through the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration.
The airport plans to use the FAA funding to conduct an enviormental study needed to complete airport improvements.
"I'm pleased to announce that the Warsaw Municipal Aiport will receive $45,000 to help improve its safety and efficiency," Souder said.
"Our local employees depend on the transportation provided by the Warsaw Municipal Airport, and this funding will help the airport improve the important services that it provides."
More specifically, the grant will provide funds to conduct an enviormental assessment needed for the relocation of a power line that is an obstruction to the airport's Runway 27.
The power line's relocation will improve the safety of the approach to the runway and permit future improvements to make the runway more efficient.
