SYRACUSE - Agnes Clyde Gingrich, 96, of Syracuse, died at 11 p.m. May 10, 2008, at Miller's Merry Manor, Syracuse.

She was born July 25, 1911, in Beach, N.D., to Clinton and Irene Moyer Clyde. On July 30, 1932, she married Benjamin William Gingrich, who proceeded her in death in 1980.

She grew up in Elkhart, then moved to South Bend where she lived until 1964 when she and her husband moved to Syracuse for retirement. She worked as an executive secretary at Bendix Corp. and an accountant for a firm in South Bend. She is accredited with establishing the accounting department for Crown International. After her retirement in the 1960s, she became the accountant for JC Manufacturing, North Webster, where she worked until 2004. She volunteered more than 5,000 hours at Goshen General Hospital. She was a member of Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, Goshen.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Agnes G. Carter, Syracuse; a granddaughter; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, the Rev. Robert S. (and spouse Audrey) Clyde, Syracuse. She was preceded in death by an infant son, a brother and two sisters.

Private family services will be held at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse, with the Revs. Gordon Bacon and Robert S. Clyde officiating. Burial will be at Highland Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.

Public calling is 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
