Participants will be broken down into four categories: men, women, co-ed and family teams. Teams are encouraged to register prior to the race at metzgeroutdoors.com Teams are required to range from one to four people.

The entry fee is $25 per participant and an additional $25 per team for those who need to rent a canoe from Metzger Outdoors. Participants also will be allowed to use their own canoes.

There will be door prizes including a hand-made canoe paddle, a cooking stove, sweatshirts, hats and backpacks. Participants also will receive a t-shirt.

The top two finishers in each category receive trophies.

The adventure race is similar to the show "Amazing Race" where participants navigate with a map and compass, Micah said.

The route will be undisclosed until race day when participants will receive a map route.

Matt and Micah said the idea for the race was a joint effort. The brothers previously have participated in similar races in Ohio and Michigan.

"We wanted to come up with something to help out the community," Matt said.

He said the majority of people who have registered for the race live in Kosciusko County, but people from Ohio, Indianapolis and South Bend also have registered.

"These are hard times and people are struggling and more than ever need donations," Micah said.

During the adventure race, participants will be challenged mentally and physically, he said.

There will be check points along the route.
