Ada J. Shaffer, 85, Warsaw, passed away at 4:27 a.m. March 31, 2015, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. She was born Nov. 18, 1929, in Stony Creek Twp., Somerset County, Pa., to Earl Raymond and Harriet Snyder Swindell. On Sept. 12, 1948, she married William Elias Shaffer, who passed away April 28, 1999. She was a homemaker and a self-employed child care provider, having babysat for many children over the years. She was a member of Brookpark Community Church of the Brethren, Brookpark, Ohio, and she was also an avid embroider and quilt maker – most of her family had received the fruits of her labor. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Beverly Waldeck, Parma, Ohio; two sons, Chuck Shaffer Fort Wayne, and Ronald Shaffer, Warsaw; six grandchildren: Kim Hornyak, Olmsted Falls, Ohio; Jen (and spouse Jason) Fitch, Parma, Ohio; Missy (and spouse Will) Ware, Cleveland, Ohio; Stephen Shaffer, Canton, Ohio; James Shaffer, Texas; and Maggie Markward, Van Wert, Ohio; 11 great-grandchildren: Brittany (and spouse Brad) Clevenger and Angelica Hornyak, both of Olmsted Falls; Jessica Fitch, Massillon, Ohio; Summer Fitch, Parma Heights, Ohio; Justin and Caitlynn Fitch, Parma; Joe, Amy and Jon Waldeck, Cleveland; Maddox Shaffer, Texas; Liam Webb, Van Wert; one great-great grandson, Otto Clevenger, Olmsted Falls; two sisters, Shirley Meyers, Columbia Station, Ohio, and Doris Jackson, Olmsted Falls. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles Swindell; and two sisters, Margaret Swindell and Boots Lape. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Baker Osinski Kensinger Funeral Home, 206 Front St., Berea, Ohio, with the Rev. Gene Carey officiating. Burial and graveside services are in Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted, Ohio. Calling is from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
