No injuries were reported, but power, cable television and telephone service outages resulted from an accident Wednesday evening on Ranch Road.
Warsaw police were called to the 1700 block of Ranch Road, southwest of Leedy Street, after a resident in the area heard what he thought was an explosion about 5:42 p.m.
When police arrived, Dustin S. Dunithan, 24, of East Levi Lee Road, Warsaw, was found sitting on a dirt grader with a power line down over it. He was waiting for NIPSCO to arrive so he could safely exit the machinery.
Dunithan, who works for Cripe Excavating, was loading the equipment onto a trailer when it caught an overhead wire. As a result, one utility pole was snapped off at the base, one was leaning at a 45-degree angle and three others were leaning.
In addition to the service outages, Ranch Road was closed between Baker Street and CR 200S while crews made necessary repairs. Ranch Road was reopened about 8:10 p.m.
Damage to NIPSCO property was estimated at $3,000.
